|55 degrees when we left Long Beach,WA to drive to Portland,OR. 90+ when we arrived in Portland. When one travels inland from the coast the temp rises dramatically. The drive was beautiful as we followed the Columbia River on the Oregon side. The highway wound about and rose and fell in concert with the path of the river and the numerous hills. Many gorgeous vistas. Two moments of angst-one when I had to make a tight U-turn in Astoria when I missed a turn. The other when I over drove the turn into our RV park in Portland and had to enter a busy shopping center with lots of tree branches to dodge-not easy when your height is 14 feet. Well anyway we arrived at Jantzen Island RV Park-it is quite luxurious and pretty. We had dinner at the Joe's Crab Shack-a lively place with a shacky decor but a beautiful view being right on the Columbia River. We had clams and crab legs. The food was quite good.
