Today is June 7 and we are in Laraigne-Monteglin, on Hwy 75 in Provence. We must be WAY off of the beaten track, becquse this sites Map Manager cannot access any of the place names we've stayed over the last few days! We crossed into France almost a week ago and came down the coast through Monaco and Monte Carlo. They look just like in the photos, but what the photos don't show is the TRAFFIC! Ugh! The water, however, changes to the most beautiful shade of blue as soon as you cross the border to France. How do they do that!!
We went to Nice, then followed the 202 to Annot, Palud sur Verdon and the Gorge du Verdon, Valensole and through Sisteron to Laraigne. Provence is spectacular - lavender appears to be the motif here, although we are a little early for the bloom. The weather has been good, the drivers polite and the roads are in good condition. And there is LOTS of climbing just about every day.
Campgrounds in France are less expensive than in Italy, with similar facilities, and we are finding navigation a bit easier here. I suppose the experience helps a bit too...
I'm still having trouble with posting photos at public internet sites. Maybe I'll work it out by the time we return...
Love to all,
Ken & Liz
