Moai, Rapa Nui

Moai at sunset.

Coast near Rapa Nui.

Volcanic crater.

The Birdman Islands.

My guides, the cheapest on Easter Island.

More Moai another sunset.

Moai towering over the Harbour.

Middle of nowhere, and the cost of the internet reflects it, doen't expect much in the way of pictures or words until I get to somewhere more reasonable.

4 days of walking around the Island seeing many Moai, a very relaxing place and a preview of the costs across the Pacific.

Great airport, 4km runway that acts as emergency landing strip for the Space Shuttle but only served by one airline - Lan Chile - with no shorthaul traffic and no resident craft, one 767 that comes in and out every other day between Santiago and Papeete, a major event for the locals.

I did a couple of dives here and the water was warm with great visibility but there aren't that many fish to see and the dive school I used had leaky equipment and an unprofessional attitude.
