pirate ship?

fishing from the pier

I had two absolutely amazing days here at the beach. Yesterday was beautiful - only slightly breezy, sunny and warm. Went to beach for two hours or so and it was nearly high tide. Lots of fishermen out today.

All along the beach were these funny looking blue string things.

A couple I met had been to the aquarium the day before so she filled me in - they are man of war jellyfish and are quite toxic and painful if you touch them. A big beautiful heron of some kind perched on this sign for a long time

This morning I took the trolley into town to the city park to watch dolphins - I hit the jackpot! They were everywhere.

See the beautiful city park with a marina, fishing pier and observation tower. I actually climbed up in it and for those of you who know me that is quite a feat, but it was well back from the water.

Bordering the entire waterfront were these very geometrically laid out rocks

This is a photo of them from above, in the tower. Made me wonder how they got there and arranged like this. Also saw lots more pelicans - check this guy out -

and a large(or it seems that way to me) shrimp boat. a lady told me that the owner built it himself

There was also this boat flying a pirate flag

but I didn't see any actual pirates or treasure. And just to prove it's really me

Tomorrow I'm planning to go to Corpus Christi to the state aquarium and the floating museum of the USS Lexington and later this week to the King Ranch. I'll keep you posted
