The Four Corners-Joan in AZ and NM and Dick in UT and...

Just a delightful 3 days at the Grand Canyon in their Trailer Village campground. That first night we rode our bikes to the rim. Standing on the trail edge as the sun was setting, a German couple approached the rim. At first they stood there silent. Then the woman simply said: "Mein Gott!" They stood a few moments longer then walked off.

The bus system to travel along the rim worked well. We took in some ranger talks and walks. At the bat talk we were enticed to join the Bat Conservation International and adopted Matt the Bat, a California Leaf-nosed bat. We got up one morning before 5 AM to see the sunrise. Richard was hoping for a metaphysical experience but all we heard was a babel of chattering Japanese tourists. But the sunrise was really beautiful.

We stopped at the East Entrance on the way out towards Colorado and enjoyed the views and the history there.

At the Four Corners we met two couples who had just hiked rim to rim. And they were older than we are. Is that our goal?
