Robe is a small seaside town in the far south of South Australia, fairly close to the border with Victoria. It's pretty quiet but has fantastic beaches. Its other plus point is that it's only an hour's drive from the Coonawarra wine region - and when you are self catering you just have to pay a visit to stock up.

We spend three nights in a self catering cottage called Salty Joe's which is nicely located close to a long beach (called Long Beach - they tend to be fairly literal with their names in Oz). Apart from a few fun and games with co-residents of the mouse kind, it's a really good base to explore the area.
