On the Way Home From North Carolina

The Mountains of Virginia

Good Old Appalachians

Home Again - the end of the trail

September 17, 2008 – Wednesday:

The last day of our trip. We drove from Winston-Salem home to Charles Town today with mixed emotions. The closer we got to home, the more I wanted to be there. But it was such a wonderful trip, that I also hated to see it end.

We drove through the Smokies up I-81 through Virginia, crossing the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. It was good to be back in the mountains that we live in and love. They are so much different than the Rockies and the red rock cliffs and canyons of Utah. These are more comfortable to us, and seem to fit us better – old worn down things that we both are. Guess we’ll stay in the East.

Thanks so much for letting us share our trip with you. And let’s do it again some time!
