We left Mission Beach on Feb 27 and arrived in Townsville that afternoon to ferry out to Magnetic Island for a couple days stay. Townsville itself is not a tourism driven town so it was refreshing to see an example Australian city. The island had some great views and walks, but was primarily geared at spending money on horse riding, jetskiing and diving. Couldn't swim in the ocean, but they had a nice pool. It was a relaxing two days. There is a pic of J with an aerial root fig tree. They have runners that drop to the ground and eventually root and in time kill the host tree that they started growing around. Very neat. Spent one night in Townsville and ended up sharing drink with a couple of Australian guys and a German girl (we were all sharing a room).
