I think this is one of the roads they used in Lord...

It was very strange walking back through Wellington city centre. For one thing it is cold! But at least I have a tan - quite an odd accessory for the winter, but one I'm going to try and make the most of while it lasts.

After a few drinks with some friends it was time to meet the folks. After waving frantically at them for a good couple of minutes in the airport they finally spotted me. Nice to see they still recognise their son. I have to say it is fantastic being spoilt. Hotel rooms, daily three course meals, new clothes - I am going to fleece them for every penny they have! Its difficult to believe it was 11 months ago when I last saw them, and its nice to see nothing has changed. It's like I only said goodbye to them in Manchester airport yesterday!

Anyway it was time to finally see the south island (I've been here long enough)so we quickly escaped the oncoming storm and made our way via ferry to Picton.
