Kyla and Nick Around the World travel blog

Our first day in Amsterdam was a pretty quiet one - a walk across town from the train station to our great mini apartment, the Slapen in Amsterdam, out for a fantastic Surinamese dinner, a quick run for groceries, and then off to the movies to see In Brugges. A fine film by the way.

We started our second day very late which was nice. We have had a great success today - finally finding an English travel guide on Ghana (yahoo!). We have spent far too many hours trying to track one down throughout France - if only we had known there would be one waiting for us here.

We took in the Van Gough museum, took a quick afternoon stroll through the Red Light District, and had hoped to visit the Anne Frank museum, but as our friends had warned us, the line-ups are really, really long. So here we are now at an internet cafe, buying internet tickets to the Anne Frank museum for tomorrow so that we will not have to wait in line. Consider that a tip for those of you wanting to visit it someday.

Oh and have I complained yet about the weather in Holland? It has been really quite annoying. It has rained quite a bit but it has also been warm and sunny. You never know what the next hour of weather will bring. It just started raining again for the third time today. Oh well - I guess it will make us appreciate the lack of rain next week in Ghana!
