Another room with a view

Three hours on the bus brought us to Lake Atitlan in the Highlands. Surrounded by volcanos the lake has a dramatic setting with the light changing constantly across the water.

Spent a night in Panajachel. Little of merit there and it was extremely busy due to it being a long holiday weekend in Guatemala.

Took a small boat acros the lake to San Pedro which was much more to our liking. The town was several days into a fiesta and the atmosphere was excellent. The population is predominantly Mayan with most of the women (and some of the men) wearing traditional dress.
