Well, I have come to the end of my time in California as I leave for Fiji tonight. The sun is out today and I am about to tackle repacking my backpack. So, I figure, what better way to procrastinate from doing this than to write about my day yesterday (plus I'm waiting for my clothes to finish in the dryer).

On Friday, Marisa and I kicked off her birthday weekend with lunch and margaritas at La Cabana, after running some errands. The food (particularly the guacamole!) at this Mexican restaurant was absolutely delicious, beating any I have had back east. The waiter was kind enough to take our picture before we left!

For dinner that night, Marisa fixed bruschetta, spaghetti with meat sauce and salad. The best part about meals, though, is that it brings us all together. In my family life and among my friends, I have always enjoyed the time I have spent gathered around a table with good food in front of us. Marisa's roommates and a friend of hers joined us for her great cooking and wine.

After, we went out to a brand new gorgeous bar called Beechwood to hobnob with the fabulous of Venice. Then we went to my type of bar: Brennan's is a Irish place with live music and lots of beer. They are famous for their Thursday night turtle races! See the pictures above.

So that's all for now--sorry for the play-by-play. It has been great to be here: to relax and to see Marisa and the life she has built out here. So, thanks very much to Marisa, who has let me sit on her couch, use her computer and help confirm my decision to do this.

I will update again when I find a spot in Fiji. By the way, let me know how Sunday is, as I will completely miss it by flying over the International Date Line. Oh well.

Lots of love.
