Ross and Wendy - Road Trip 2008 travel blog

Posted by Wendy: We spent the day photographing the poppies in the Antelope Valley, about 70 miles northeast of LA on the edge of the Mojave Desert. The color is amazing and apparently the orange fields are so bright that they stand out from as much as 35,000 feet in the air - as we learned from another photographer in the field, his pilot son-in-law took a picture of them as he flew over. There are wildflowers all over the place, as we were exiting the freeway there were hills covered with purple, yellow and orange. It's very interesting to see the mix of the very dry, desert-like terrain with the delicate and colorful wildflowers.

We're on our way to Arizona with our next stop in Sedona or the Grand Canyon.
