We were up early and went for a walk up the hill behind the B&B for a view over the lake before breakfast.
After a full English breakfast (enough food for a week), we drove to Grasmere where we hiked up to Easedale Tarn; a round trip of approximately 5 miles. It was a relatively easy uphill walk as the footpath was well trodden. It was cold and windy in places and we did not stay too long at the top, but we did sit down and had a bite to eat. Once back down in Grasmere we had a coffee/tea and sat for a while on the sunny patio.
We then drove to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s house near Hawkshead, for a visit. It was quite interesting to realize that it was here that she wrote her books, although she did not live at Hill Top for very long.
Later in the evening, we walked along the Lake Windermere shorefront before going to a local Italian Restaurant for dinner.
