On Lake Atitlan

Sunset View

Our New Students

Our trip included a boat tour of Lake Atitlan on our last day in Panajachel. We left our hotel early in the morning for our small boat adventure. We were told to bring our swim suits in case we decided to enjoy the hot springs in the area. The local guide took us to the hot springs first, since there are less people there in the morning. He drove the boat for a while, and then stopped by a seawall that had steam coming off the top of the water. Then, he told us to jump in! Needless to say, only one brave soul in our group got in.

At the first village, our guide told us about Mushiman, who is the Mayan god of all things bad, such as drinking and smoking. We payed 4Q to ride a tuk tuk to see Mushiman...which turned out to be a statue on a box smoking a cigarette. Then, we took a walk through the village back to our boat. We visited two more villages, and ended with a small hike to our final destination, La Iguana Perdida.

After returning to Panajachel, we did a little shopping and ate dinner at Pana Rock. Tomorrow we return to Antigua.
