Costa Rica Surf Recon 2008 travel blog

We are counting the days now until we are headed back home, the part of the trip that everyone dreads but, when it finally comes it feels good to return, rejuvenated, and excited for the spring and summer. In the past, when Ive returned from a surf trip I've always had to wait 6 months or more until I could return to the beach, but this time I am going home to the beach and can continue surfing everyday in the Pacific Rim National Park. Im very excited to continue and progress my surf life, and my post schooling life from Ucluelet. Im looking forward to my new job guiding sea kayak trips in and around Ucluelet.

We have been staying these last 2 weeks on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica where the culture is very different from the rest of Costa Rica. It's flavourful on this side, the food is amazing and the people are far more happier and lively than on the Pacific side. It's very Rasta!! Caribbean island styles and sounds blast the main streets of Puerto Viejo every night, and the water is the color of paradise. Pirates used to use these shallow ports here and throughout the Caribbean to hide their treasures and trade rum. (super sweet historical fact) From here, we take a bus back to San Jose, and fly to Los Angeles, board another plane for Seattle and then hop on the Greyhound for an allnighter back to Nanimo. It's going to be a long journey but, I can't wait to breath and smell the northwest pacific air once we are there.
