|I was going to stay at my host family for the first week and then start volunteer work at the YFU office in Vinkeveen the next Monday. I had spoken to Bob Poel about a internship in the Netherlands a few weeks earlier and before I could say “ keep in touch with the dutch” I was at the front door of YFU. I had never seen the office before and it almost seemed unreal. This was where young people were given the opportunity to, just like me, explore the world and integrate into a new culture while making friends and having fun.
I loved being part of there team .Every day was a new adventure all in a very professional yet humoristic atmosphere. I was in charge information requests, school visits and finding returnees to attend information events. During the three week period I lived with very loving host family in a beautiful town called Weesp .We had some great times including a shusi night where i rolled perfect california rolls
I have always felt a special connection with the Dutch and there amazing country.
Now I move on to my next destination in my trip of Europe and plan on returning to Cape Town , my home , in early June.
