A Belated Feliz Navidad from Patagonia!
26 Dec 2007
Or, Happy Christmas, from the heart of Patagonia.
Regardless of where you are in the world some aspects of Christmas never change: it leaps up much faster than expected and all the pre Christmas jobs don't quite get done!! For us the job was to get this Christmas message off to you, which due to some circumstances out of our control it never quite happened. So this year we are wishing you a belated Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year. Sorry for the delay!
It's Boxing Day today and we are in the Argentinean town of El Chalten. It's a dusty wee town in the middle of the Los Glaciars National Park with its main attraction being the spectacular mountains of Fitzroy and Cerro Torre.
We had a very special Christmas day, woke at 6.00am from our tented slumber to walk up over the hills that enclose the town with some fellow cycle tourists to get breath taking views of Mt. Fitzroy, what a Christmas present. Whist we basked in the sun, soaked up the breath taking scenery and ate slabs of a local Christmas cake, we drank a toast to you all with a healthy nip of Argentinean scotch whisky!! Our toast wished you all a Muy Feliz Navidad (Very Happy Christmas) and all the best for the coming year. Although we are many miles away our thoughts and best wishes are with you all, hoping that you are all very happy and healthy.
We hope to do a full web update soon with all the news of our adventures in this wonderful part of the world. In the meantime take care and enjoy the rest of the festive season.
Many thanks to those who have sent messages, we love getting them.
Chauo, Hasta Luego
