|Nov 17...To the best internet yet(Ikatel), by 8 am in the hippodrome area were upscale folks go to restaurant Relax to have better food fare(pricier as well, although the sandwiches were quite reasonable). I had a crepe rolled up w/ ham & chez topped w/ an egg! At 9 we went to internet where I was able to put the rest of Bon's pics on CD.
Back to Cath.Mission by 11 we chd out and a sister helped us get a taxi to bus "station" to Segou scheduled to leave at 1230 left at 1...although it was supposed to be 3 hours, due to several stops(settle an argument w/ 2 passengers who had not paid, & stop at 4 for prayers), we got to Segou at 6. The prayer stop was nice since we could buy wedges of watermelon and sweet potato French fries, yum! On the bus we met an Italian couple, Enrico & Marta.
He works in Niger for the EU and she is an archeologist, they previously were in Ethiopia where he worked on human rights until after 10 months he was kicked out as personal non grata!
There were no cheap rooms at the LP recom Hotel le Djoliba or L'Auberge but we happened upon our Dutch friends from Bamako, Laura & Cor who told us about the Cath.Mission here. One and a half km out but as it turned out the dorms were only 2,000 ea. Mission Notre Dame de L Immaculee Conception ph 320269 not in LP. They were very nice and being the only ones there at first we had our pick of beds under the fan!
