Little India by night

The Deepavali lights

Last full day today - boo. Marie did us a lovely Indian breakfast with bread and dips, we need her to come and live in our house! After that we went over to little India and had a walk around there, but it was SO busy - tomorrow is Deepavali, so everything was packed. Lots of ladies were getting their henna tattos done and shopping, so we couldn't really get close to anything. It's a pretty place though - lots of coloured shutters on the upper floors of the shop houses, and a little covered walkway on the ground floor so that you can stay in the shade. There were shops selling saris, jewellery, food, pictures of Hindu Gods, and all sorts of things. We had lunch in the Banana Leaf Apollo where the food is served up on a big banana leaf - more curry. Then made our way back home.

This evening we ate at the Swiss Hotel Stamford - tallest building in Singapore and the restaurant is almost at the top so you get a great view of the city. I had a Merlion cocktail which comes in a Merlion shaped container. They also do one in the shape of the Swiss Hotel! The food was lovely too.

After that we went back to Little India to see the Deepavali lights which were very pretty but it was still really busy so we didn't stay long but went back to Clarke Quay for a drink. That was busy too because tomorrow is a public holiday! Anyway, finished the packing and went to bed.
