Spent the night in Bennington, VT, I think the 3rd largest city here at about 9,000. VT is so rural, average town about 2,000 but many, many of them much smaller than that. The largest city Burlington has only 39,000, about the size of Prescott. We have just loved VT - so beautiful. We'll need to spend a summer or more here sometime.
Gregg enjoyed the Orvis store in pretty Manchester with elm-lined streets and marble sidewalks while I toured Hildene, the restored home of Abraham Lincoln's only surviving son Robert. The last of Abe Lincoln's line died here, a great grandaughter. The home is beautiful.
Then, to top off a great day in a great state, I checked out the Norman Rockwell museum in Arlington where he lived and painted the rural folk for 14 years. The museum is run by people who had modeled for his paintings. How cool! Glad I saw this now as another generation will outilve this possibility.
