NH's Mt. Washington shrouded in cloud

We tried to see New Hampshire's Mt. Washington 8 miles to our south this morning, the highest point in New England at 6,288 fee. The summit boasts of the world's worst weather and highest recorded wind velocity at 231 mph, with an average year round temperature that is below freezing, and a climate similar to Antarctica's. Today's weather included 25 foot visibility and 74 mph winds so no cars were allowed up the mountain - darn!

We have a plan to drive down the center of Vermont, stopping for sightseeing along the way, taking a couple or more days at this, then cross over to New York and drive back up north a ways in the Adirondacks.

The trees grow more colorful each day - this is deliriously beautiful here. How lucky we are to be doing this...
