Harbour Hopper amphibious tourboat and one of the beautiful sailing ships on...

We thoroughly enjoyed an amphibious city tour on a retired Vietnam War amphibious 5 ton vehicle, touring the downtown harbor area and then out into the harbor for a tour from the water. The harbor boardwalk is great with lots of restaurants, shops, museums and we had a beautiful day for it. Halifax interested both of us as we'd just read a book about the horrendous 1917 explosion of a munitions ship in the harbor that just about wiped them out, breaking every piece of glass in a huge number of square miles, leveling buildings, killing about 2,000 and wounding about 9,000. This was immediately followed by a tsunami caused by the explosion, then the worst winter snow storm they had had in 10 years. Fascinating story and one of interest because of the incredible recovery and relief efforts that took place in the aftermath.
