Robyn's Travelling Adventures travel blog

I woke up at 5am on the 19th to get the 6am bus to New York. It was an emotional goodbye to those who I wouldn't be meeting up with later on in New York, as some people were going later, but I wanted a full day to see as much as possible since I had never spent much time there.

We got into New York later than expected as the 7.15am Greyhound never showed up, then we had to persuade people at Port Authority bus terminal to store our baggage as we were too early to check into our hotel. Then Tom and I said goodbye to Angela, Magda, Justyna, Eva and Jana and walked to Pier 83 so I could book a Liberty Cruise, which I had a voucher for so that it would be free! Thanks Camp America! The cruise was booked for 3pm so we decided to go for a walk to Central Park, where we had lunch whilst watching a baseball game.

The Liberty Cruise was pretty good, it was only 75minutes so we didn't get to go around to Brooklyn Bridge, but we did go right past the Statue of Liberty and see the view of Downtown Manhattan from the river. It was a bit of a rainy day but it was still lots of fun. We met up with Karen, Ema, Anneka, Grant, Chloe, Leah and Martin in the evening for dinner at Applebees which was lots of fun and it was nice to still be able to see people from Camp as I know I'm going to miss them so much.

Monday 20th, my last day in New York and the last day of my travels. We got into NY late, but I needed to do some shopping. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go to the top of the Empire State Building or Top of the Rock, so I said goodbye to everyone before they went to the Top of the Rock to see the view over NY city. I then headed back to the subway crying my eyes out on the streets of New York! Everyone probably thought I was a nutter!

I packed my things, now in 2 bags as I have collected so much stuff during camp that my rucksack can't fit it all and then got the shuttle to the airport. My flight left at 8pm.
