We spent two nights in Brigham, UT in order to visit some interesting sites. The Golden Spike National Historic Site is where on May, 1869, the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads met at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory. By uniting the continent with the completion of the nation's first transcontinental railroad, East and West were linked. Vast areas were then available to settle and easy access to new markets ushered in an explosion of westward migration and expansion. Note pictuires of the replica locomotives. Interpretive talks, movies and museum exhibits explain the significiance of this development.
We also took a quick trip into Salt Lake City in order to view the Morman Tabernacle and and Temple. Amazing!
