Hurghada to Port Ghalib on the way to Suakin, Sudan 18th -19th June
Three more Swedish crew members joined the boat in Hurgarda so we are now six and a seventh to come on board at Port Ghalib. There is Finn and his partner Charlotte and Ani.
As the Red Sea has a reputation for very strong wind going North to South, Lars decided to sail down to Sudan quickly so he would have days up his sleeve for potential bad weather on the way back north. But the wind has died and we have been under motor which is unusual.
So an overnight motor/sail of 125 nautical miles with a stop at Panorama Reef for a snorkle and a dive. A reef surrounded by deep sea! Absolutely magical!
We came into Port Ghalib about eight in the morning. There is a new marina and a huge complex being built here. We could also clear out of Egypt here.
Ulriche, a Swedish dentist was waiting for us. She had traveled all night from Cairo to join the boat and is sharing my cabin. We are getting along very well.
