Sea of Cortez, Baja California travel blog

Bahia de Los Angeles was reached in the late afternoon after a rough ride in the running tide of the narrow Canal de Ballenas (no Ballenas were actually seen here) and a pretty heavy surf in the large Bay of LA itself. Terease hoofed it across the street to the Costa del Sol Motel and Sandra, the owner's daughter brought a truck that she was willing to loan for the inevitable fuel run to the nearest Pemex. Sandra's mother, Victoria, returned from Ensenada that evening and, exercising her motherly prerogative, insisted that Brian and Terease let her know or=f their progress and arrival in La Paz; Five scientists drowned in that area in 2000 when their boat was swamped and sank in the channel, so she is somewhat sensitive about travel on a sea that she probably considers a dangerous unknown.
