the second unwanted birthday present!

I am in Bolivia! Bolivia is the poorest country in South America which becomes apparent almost immediately after crossing the border from Peru. We took a bus from Puno to another town on Lake Titicaca, Copacabana - a pretty little touristy town full of gringos! I met up here with my friend Andy - a Scottish guy i'd met in Guatemala a few months ago as our paths were crossing again - so good when that happens!

We decided to visit Isla del Sol a beautiful island in the middle of the lake and for some crazy reason decided to walk the 20km to the port of Yunapata before taking the boat over. It was a lovely walk though - great views, bright sunshine and (mostly) flat so wasn't too strenuous...although once again the minging coca sweets were needed to help the altitude sickness...i just want to go somewhere where i can breath again !! Unfortunately the girls are running short of time so they had to leave and couldn't come with us, which was a real shame as the island was so beautiful and night and day was enough though as really wasn't anything to do there except more walks which diodnt really have the energy for! so the next day - my birthday - we went back to Copa for a night on the town...managed to find a birthday curry (!) and then found a bar where we spent the evening with some crazy locals and also met another girl who's birthday it turned a bit messy - drinking games and disgusting shots..always a bad combination!!
