We arrived in Luang Prabang and despite the air we rented bikes...

March 17-21st

Our 'luxury' Mekong trip ended in the town of Luang Prabang, Laos. We were disappointed that the air here was as bad as Thailand (smokey and hazy from all the slash burning in the hills) but impressed with this tiny village - turned tourist town.

We spent a few days being tourists, sampling some fine wine at the few wine bars, and enjoying the pampering at the day spas (where 90 min full body massage, 30 minute facial and 60min foot and leg massage only set us back $25. Good enough reason to stay here. Had it not been for the smoky air ... we would have stayed longer ... Greg with the wine and Tracy with her new passion for the Laos massages.

Laos is a country of friendly laid back people. Their landlocked position between such populated others like Thailand and Vietnam, let's them escape the rapid westernization that is going on all around them. There are also huge unpopulated virgin forest areas where new species of animals are still being found today. We will certainly return here.

We fly to Hanoi, Vietnam on the 21st ... where we start another journey into a new country.

Hope everyone is well ... and enjoying the cherry blossoms !!
