We spent the majority of our first day in Bangkok in Thai Airlines office and the Vietnamese embassy, trying to arrange our travel for the rest of our stay in SE Asia. Despite some jetlag induced nausea, it was relatively uneventful. We finally made our way back to Ko Sahn Rd. for a yummy plate of Pad Thai for dinner...well earned after a day of running around this city!

We felt compelled to squeeze in some Bangkok sightseeing prior to our departure for Ko Samui, so we headed for the beautiful Wat Phra Kew and the Grand Place via the river ferry. The buildings were fantastic and highly ornate w/ lots of gold and mirrors. It was definitely a rush job, but we were glad to have seen it...it made Bangkok worthwhile :) We headed to the airport where John's credit card got rejected...ugh...his credit card company was trying to help out! We were able to straighten it out pretty quickly though. We landed in the actually quite nice Ko Samui airport and headed straight for a cute bungalow on Chaweng beach we had booked as soon as we landed.
When we arrived @ the Bungalow and it really wasn't so cute...it was probably the dirtiest thing either of us had ever stayed in!! We vowed to be more selective and a little less frugal for our next stay. We immediately jumped in the ocean to cool down and assimilate :) We enjoyed stolling down the tiki torch lit beach and dining on the sand for what felt like our first real piece of relaxation and escape.
