So we had arrived in Bali late at night after 48 hours of constant travelling, partying and not much sleep! We decided to go to Lombok (as Sophy had been to and seen a lot of Bali before with Natasa) for 4 days and TOTALLY CHILL as we were very tired with a weeks travelling in NZ also and the crossing of 5 time zones from Wellington to Bali. So we headed for Padangbai in Bali after a huge sleep so we could get the 4 hour ferry to Lembar in Lombok. It was a really peaceful crossing and we watched the locals fishing off the back of the ferry (they only caught just 1 fish!!). We arrived in Lembar and after a slight confusion, got our lift to Senggigi Beach and was really amused as 2 of the locals thought Paul was David Beckham (!!) and his answer was ..... "I just wish I had his looks, Football abilty and wealth!!".....aaahhh..... We arrived in Senggigi and had a look at one of the local hotels and was shocked to see that the price for a bungalow with a sea view was .......... 4 british pounds! Hoo-rah!! So we relunctantly took them up on their offer!!!! A meal for 2 was about 5 pounds including two large beers!! The local Bingtang Beer was Paul's favourite and was a staggering 70 pence!! After our long trip, we accepted some cheap beers and sat on the beach to look out to sea and watch the amazing sunset.....truly awesome!!

The following day, we awoke to the noise of the waves crashing in the background as we were literally 20 steps to the sea. We had a great breakfast (3 pounds!!) on the beachfront too. We met some local ladies who charged 3 pounds for a massage, which we felt our tired limbs deserved and we were very impressed when we had 2 ladies each massaging us!! The ladies that worked on Paul definately earned their 3 pounds as he has a big back and legs and the ladies were quite small...bless! We then booked them every morning until we go home (inclduing soem flower painted nails for Sophy! ...Paul declined that though!!). We then just chilled in the sun all day as the weather was really good, great day, plenty of water and a nice lunch. Happy hour was then at 4pm so we had some chilled beers overlooking the sunset again, which changed slightly everyday.... although you could guarantee the local fishermen on their windsurfer style boats would be coming in past the setting sun at that time everyday! You just couldn't get bored with it!! The next day was almost the same, so nice to chill and relax on this lovely beach. We also got engaged on the 2nd evening as the sun came down, the setting was perfect (see photo)....and we were both very happy. Glad to say that Paul proposed on one knee and said some lovely things, what a gent! The following day, we went to the Gili Trawangan island for the day which is part of 3 remote islands (others are Gili Air and Gili Meno) North West of Lombok and were total paradise. Very turquiose and calm water and blue skies made this a really great setting to spend our last day in Lombok. Our island was the "busier" of the three, but as it was low season it was really quiet and had beautiful beaches. The weather was scorching and we hired some snorkels to go round teh reef at the top of the island and collected shells whilst waiting for our return boat. We got back in the early evening and headed into Senggigi for some Bingtangs and Dinner. The following day, we headed back to Bali (after Paul had his favourite breakfast of Banana and Cheese toasties - they call them Jaffles!) which took around 8 hours, as the ferry was delayed just outside the port for about an hour. We got off and headed to Kuta (the main touristy resort in Bali)for a night out. Our hotel cost under 4 pounds and we headed to some Bars that Sophy and Natasa went a few years ago. We ended up in the Bounty Bar (literally a massive ship with night club inside... you can play captain or dance in the crows nest podiums!!) until very late drinking things from glasses that resembled goldfish bowls that were called "Dynamite" (it had Rice wine, vodka and coke in it!! urgh!!). We spent to next morning with a pair of sore heads looking around Kuta and trying to do our website as the connection in Lombok had been very slow! We then heading off early afternoon to the airport for our flight to Singapore!!!.....
