|I flew from Launceston to Brisbane on Sunday evening, getting in at about 11pm. Luckily the hostel provides a shuttle service to and from the airport so I got picked up and taken to Moreton Bay Backpackers, which is in Manly, about 30 minutes from the city centre as I stayed in the city before and wanted a change of scenery!
So, on Monday I went for a walk along the esplanade by Moreton Bay foreshore. I walked for longer than I had planned and ended up at a Mangrove boardwalk, which was really nice. Lots of mudcrabs and Australian White Ibises. Anyway, 3 hours later I was back at the hostel! I decided to make use of the TV room and borrow a DVD to watch for the afternoon. I saw Flightplan, which I thought was quite good.
Tuesday I went into the city for a few hours to sort some things out and see Brisbane post-Christmas decorations.
Wednesday there was a free sailing trip at Manly Yacht club. Several of the people from the hostel had decided to take advantage - 2 more British, 2 from New Zealand and 2 from Canada. We all got put on different boats, mine was called the Rumba, and I was with 2 men called Ian and Robert who let me help out occasionally with stuff on the boat but not much! It was a really good day though, I had to keep covering myself in suncream as it was so hot. We saw lots of jellyfish and also a stingray! After walking back to the hostel and having dinner, a few of us went for a walk along the foreshore in the cool of the evening.
