Colca Canyon - Nov 12, 2004 -

We decided to leave early to get to Colca Canyon in the morning to maximise the chances of seeing Condors. This meant a 2:30am start....so most of us didn´t bother going to bed and tried to sleep on the way.

We got to the Canyon at about 10:30 and waited.....and waited....

An hour later, Condors suddenly started arriving, drifting up from the canyon on the termals. We were very lucky to see so many - at one time four were flying together and came really close to where we were watching. Magnificient beasts.

We then went to some hot springs at a nearby little town called Chavay where we were to stay the night. Whilst at the springs there was an earth tremor - the first i´ve ever experienced.
