Jonathan's world trip travel blog

so this is actually the last day buthere we are back at...

So summit day started at 2330 on the 20th and it had to be one of the hardest things I have ever done. It took about 6 hours to get to the summit and I struggled for about 4 or 5 of those hours. I am hardly a quitter but I can honestly say that if I was by myself I could of very easily just turned around at one point or another. But here again pride comes into play and I found myself marching on. Repeating to myself, "left foot, right foot", "slowly slowly", "1, 2, 1, 2" humming a song and pretty much anything else that would take my mind off of my situation. By about 6 the sun started creep up into the horrizon and as the color in the sky started to change I found myself up on the final ridge and heading thru the snow towards the top.

I cannot put into words just how difficult the last hours of the climb were, they pretty much sucked. I had done this with no preconceived notions and no attempts of trying to put myself in any better phsyical shape. In retrospect I am sure that would of made my life a bit easier! But now I know. ;)

Side note!

When we got back down I was so excited about just going back to sleep but I found out that we could only stay at our site for 2 hr's and then we had to hike another 4 hours to our last site for the trek. I was willing to pay good money to not have to move again but alas 4 hours later we were settiing up camp again.
