NEW WEBSITE TITLE travel blog

quick update: after spending the day just trying to get all the travel accomodations down (and a quick pedicure for $2.00), we jumped on a 6pm bus to Chumpong. The bus ride was fairly uneventful except for the fact that we were forced to watch the movie version of "Dukes of Hazard". I know there are some of you out there that actually told me they enjoyed this movie -- i'd like to reconsider our friendship. Slept most of the bus ride after the fabulous flick and was awakened when the bus stopped at a roadside diner for about an hour. It was 12:30 in the morning, and the place was bustling. More dogs and children trying to get us to buy stuff(and no, not the dogs), and because they were the only game in town, they were able to bump up prices almost double. The thai are a shrewd, shrewd people. Anyway, after a few more hours, the bus dropped about 6 of us (and my mom will love this) in the middle of the street and just told us to wait. it was pitch black, and we were all looking at each other a little weary as to whether or not someone would actually show up to pick us up at 3am in the morning. But alas, the Thai, as i'm discovering are also a dependable lot. After a quick bus ride to the ferry station, we're here for about 4 hours until the ferry comes to get us at 7am. We'll be on the island by 10.

More later...
