shes' a waterfall

looking back at Hanmer town/plain.

We took a snap decision to break up the journey from Kaikoura to Christchurch by taking the inland/scenic route via Hanmer springs. On the way we began to appreciate the increasingly diverse landscape crammed into such a small island. Hanmer is on a plain surrounded by mountains, only two hours drive from Kaikoura's dramatic mountain range by the sea, in turn only a couple of hours from the peaceful vineyards of Marlborough! We took a (4hour) walk up the side of one such neighbouring mountain to a waterfall and planned to take a dive in the geothermally heated springs the following morning to soothe our aches, however the weather had other ideas so we left the pleasant little touristy town and set off early for Christchurch.
