Coast-to-Coast travel blog

Welcome to our trip journal. It's been a wonderful summer in Maine, with essentially no rain for the past 2.5 months, and day-after-day of blue skies and sunshine. One of the best summers on Branch Pond that I can remember. But signs of fall are at hand. The days are clearly shorter. Night temperatures are dropping. And we are beginning to see a red leaf here and there. Anne tells me it's time to head west....and west it is this year. Not just Maine to Fountain Hills, but Maine to Big Sur, CA, where we will spend time with family coming down from Portland, OR. We've rented a house for a week in Cambria, CA, which is on the southern end of Big Sur. So the plan is to head across the country to AZ, drop the RV in Fountain Hills, chase the rattle snakes out of the garage, fire-up Black Beauty, and head on to the California Coast. Back in Maine, the pontoon boat is in its storage barn for the winter, the dock is out of the water, all lawn furniture is crammed on the screen porch, kayaks are lashed to the rafters in the shed, and all annuals have been pulled. A little more fussing with the 5'er tomorrow, and then we are ready to roll...coast-to-coast. Come "trip" with us. The photo is our Big Sur destination.
