We headed out today to go to Salins-les-Bains this time we didn’t get side-tracked via some of the local lakes The town was originally both a thermal spa town and also a town where they mined and produced salt. In its day it would have been quite an impressive town. In typical French style it was kind of shabby. We would have taken the salt mine tour but they only did tours in French at this time of year and only had a leaflet in English to go round the museum! We are convinced the French haven’t woken up to tourism and that other than French people visit France!

We explored the town and then headed to the little town of Arbois famous for wines and the family home of Louis Pasteur. For once it was a lovely little town but very upmarket. We enjoyed our walk around the town and a stop for a drink and cake. Daisy thought we were buying her an ice cream!
