Valley and road

The day before had been solid rain so we had a domestic day around the coach except a short walk around the tourist centres of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. Both towns were very busy. What else do people do on a wet day!

We woke up to a better day so we headed out to Elterwater and the Langdale Valley. We walked along the side of Elterwater and the Great Langdale Beck stopping to admire the views and also the Skelwith Force waterfall. This was Tony's type of walk as when we got to the small village of Skelwith Bridge we found "Chesters" a great cafe so an ideal stop for a coffee. After our break we walked uphill around the beautiful Loughrigg Tarn.

After returning to the car we headed further up the Langdale Valley taking an interesting single track road which climbed high above the valley. We stopped to admire the wonderful views across Langdale Fell. We also found Blea Tarn and enjoyed a further walk in the sunshine around the tarn.

It had been a rare sunny day and we had made the most of it.
