Jan & Kaye take a break

Dear Diary- I am writing in this cryptic form as a previous diary entry has evaporated into the unknown.

The day started with cold showers. Temporary fix, maintenance staff to fix later in the day.

I had breakfast, Jan had coffee, Kaye scoffed into mine.

Drove to Holyrood Palace to walk Arthur's Seat. Steep but wind and cold the biggest problem - no rain. Others on this barren hill in shorts, runners and T Shirts.

Toured the Palace - Queens residence in Scotland for one week in July each Year.

Palace started in 12th century - residence for a time to the unfortunate Mary Queen of Scott'. Sean Connery knighted in the Great Gallery. Decorations modest for Royalty. Adjoining Abbey ruins popular with artists. Gardens neat and impressive, Arthur's seat part of Holyrood Park.

Also visited the Queens Gallery - the Gold exhibition!

Coffee and Scones in the Palace Cafe after.

Full time parking inspector for ever present checking tickets?

Drove to Ocean Terminal to visit the Royal Yatch Brittania

Tour very good - a crew of 250 required to man the Yatch - decommissioned on 1997. Obvious why it was not refurbished or replaced. Still a beautiful Yatch.

Walked the Ocean Terminal - struggling shopping Centre.

Returned to Holyrood for Jan to shop the Royal Mile for cashmere scarfs for her family

Drinks at the "Whiski Bar"Pub for rest before returning to the hotel.

Peak hour return through Princes Street - no one told the tourist ( surrounded by buses and taxi's) that cars were excluded. We may hear more about this in the future if camera's are in use.

Arrived back in time for 1800hrs dinner. Jan & I duck, Kaye a filo pastry + Granacha. Third dinner at the Hotel all have been very good.

Early night later than planned due to diary entry disappearing?
