Stan and Ann in the Fifth Wheel travel blog

After much thought and discussion, we made the decision to replace all the tires before we left Phoenix. This was not an expense we were prepared for, but the handwriting on the wall seemed to be saying it needed to be done. All four had been replaced almost 3 years ago. One had failed the first day out. Then a second started to show cracks and separation. We decided we couldn't take the chance of being stranded in the middle of the desert. That gave us a late start on Tues. We stopped for the night in Indio, CA. This just east of Palm Springs and the whole area is full of golf courses and palm trees...beautiful. The RV park had quite a few permanent residents, but was really pretty and serene.

We now are parked in El Cajon, CA just east of San Diego. The park is very nice with a pool and a sweet little fitness center. Its only drawback is that it is older and the sites are back-ins and a little difficult to negotiate. They had a special running if we booked over the beginning of June so the price is right. We will be here at least a week and frankly I'm very ready to stay put for a while.
