Tarantula

Now we are in the Belizian jungle. Here at the Mystic River Lodge, birds and wildlife are everywhere. We went river-tubing down the river twice, and canoeing down the river too. When we went tubing, we took a 4-wheel drive Polaris up the river about 20 minutes, and then floated down the river for about 1 1/2 hours back to the hotel. Along the river we saw iguanas in the treetops, a vine snake in a tree, great egrets, and other birds.

From the restaurant of the Mystic River Lodge, some of the birds we saw were the collared aracaris, the red-throated ant tanager, and the blue-crowned motmot. One night at dinner, I was sitting there eating and I looked down to see a huge tarantula crawl by our table. It was almost the size of my hand and it was about 3 feet away. Man was that a huge spider! My dad,my brother and I went for a jungle walk. When we reached the top of the hill my dad lifted up a rock and said, "Scorpion!". We all knew what was coming. It was a fun jungle experience.
