|It was time for our first scramble of the year so we eased into it with a trip up the Saddleback trail at Lake Louise and then an easy scramble to the top of Fairview Mountain. It was also a volunteer outing for us as Parks staff are looking for trail reports, especially location of snowline. It didn't take us long to find the snow, about 100m of elevation below the saddle but after 15 minutes of walking through water and snow, it was clear and dry all the way to the top. It is a short, easy scramble to the top but the views are spectacular in all directions with Mt. Temple front and centre. After a leisurely lunch at the top, we headed back down with a couple of slight detours from the trail to catch lingering snow patches, perfect for a bit of boot skiing. A beautiful day and a beautiful hike!
