Texas Bridge

Hi, We have now moved on another 55 miles staying at a little place called Marthaville not far from Natchitoches ( Pronounced Nak-a-tush ).

The campsite is nice and small and by a lake on arrival we find out it has an Alligator in it although we have not seen it yet!!!

While in Shreveport we went to look at the Largest Mural in the Nation, it was on 2 sides of the AT & T building in Downtown, while out that night drove over The Texas Bridge which is lit up with Neon lights not very easy to photograph in a moving car.

During the day we had been to Municipal Memorial Auditorium ( built in 1929 ) where Bronze Statues were of Elvis Presley & James Burton. James Burton played with Elvis until his death in 1977, James still plays today touring all over the World, we actually met his wife outside while we were there.

We walked along the Louisiana Boardwalk in Shreveport loads of shops there, it is on the Red River.

Last day in Shreveport we decided to drive about 38 miles to Lake Bistineau State Park well worth the drive, the lake was like Lake Caddo with the Cypress Trees with the Spanish Moss hanging from them. The lake had been drained months ago as it had a weed in it that was overtaking the lake, it was the only way to get rid of it, but as there had not been a lot of rain recently it is still not full. This was to our advantage as it meant we could walk around part of it, we were actually walking where the water should have been. We saw plenty of different birds Red Cardinal & Blue Bird, need to look the others up in my book. Saw tiny frogs leaping about hundreds at a time. Loads of Turtles as well, also found 4 Turtle shells. We spoke to people fishing this is where the Bass was caught.

We also walked around America's Largest Rose Garden, but hardly any roses yet. There is a Rose called Rosa Monstrosa, an all-green flower with petals the same colour as its leaves.
