The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

The weather was still variable. Today we headed over the Honister Pass to Buttermere. The Honister Pass is spectacular. As you come over the pass you get dramatic views down the valley. The road is interesting as it has very steep grades and a single track road!

Once we arrived at the small village of Buttermere we parked up and with many others walked the 4 mile lakeshore path around Buttermere Water. We only got rained on twice. It was another great walk.

After a cup of tea and a scone we headed over the Whinlatter Pass back to Keswick. We stopped on the way to visit Castlerigg Stone Circle a circle of 38 volcanic stones. The stones were located in a magnificent location with 360 degree mountain vistas. However the rain was coming in so the views were limited.
