Through the locks

Three of the locks

So much for Kettering

Today we visit the Foxtin Locks – a staircase of 10 locks on the Grand Union canal.

We watch a number of canal boats make their way through the locks – one of the couples are from Australia. The men drive the boats while women work the locks. Unfortunately one of the ladies gets the gate sequence wrong and actually drains some of the locks.

The lock men, there to help out, have to refill the lock water storages.

It took over an hour for each boat to get through.

We follow the lock along for a bit before returning to Pierre and driving to Melton Mowbray. We have some difficulty finding our Inn for the night – even though the address said Melton Mowbray the Inn was actually in a small village nearby.
