Update from Bushnell Fl
Dec 21, 2017
|Good morning to our trip journal followers. It would appear that our writing is a bit behind. Anyone who is retired or not might understand how days turn into weeks and time flies without even realizing it. So we have a little catching up to share all that has transpired in the last three or so weeks. Our visit to Orange City was a wonderful time spent with Jack & Loretta.
From there we packed up, loaded the toad (car) on, which we are starting to get the hang of, and headed out. Next stop proved to be a bit of a disappointment due to our not being able to have our interior coach work done at this time. Herk (carpenter) was remarkable and we truly enjoyed our visit and getting the chance to see his wonderful home is Astatula Fl. Once he had the chance to put eyes on the interior we realized behind the cabinets and tv mount was a bit more involved than any of us thought. Herk felt he would need at least a couple weeks to do the work. We all agreed best to put on hold for now and we would address it at another time. Spent the afternoon at Herks home then head out a couple days sooner to our next stop in Bushnell Fl where we planned to spend a couple weeks. Deb’s family lives about 20 minutes away and we will spend time visiting with them and site seeing different places in this area.
Once we arrive at Paradise Oaks RV Resort we found our site for short term stays was in the front area near all the amenities. This is a very nice park and plenty of space to spread out. Everyone is very friendly and it’s a very large park. We have less trees in this area and parking was great, a very nice pull through full hook up site.
The area surrounding the park is rural, mainly pasture land for horses and cattle. (Or as Tom would say, look at all them hamburgers out in that field!)
We took a day trip to Homosassa Springs where we did see a few manatees. But the park there is also a re-hab place for all kinds of wildlife. We saw bears, deer, Fox, wolves, bobcat, and panthers, plus gators, owls, and eagles. They also had an underwater observation deck where we saw loads of fish. We took a couple different routes to and back from the park and got to see more of the countryside. We also spotted a place where they give air boat rides on nearby Lake Pan (lake Panasoffkee , Tom & Jerrys airboat adventures). So we booked a tour with them for a closer view of marsh like portion of the lake. We saw many birds, turtles, and gators from a foot long to about 8 feet long.
On another day we toured the flea market in Webster. The size of this place is incredible. One half is newly made items for sale, and the other half is more like a giant yard sale. One could easily spend a whole day wandering around there and still not see all the vendors.
We have also spent a few days over at Cypress Creek (that is where Debi’s cousin lives). It is a wonderful community. We attended their Christmas potluck dinner, joined in the parks Christmas golf cart parade, and on another occasion we attended the Cypress Creek boat clubs luncheon. The luncheon included a ride on the pontoon boat on lake Harris from Cypress Creek to JB Boondocks restaurant on the other side of the lake, and back. One hour each way on a sunny mid 70’s day. Nice! Plus there was a pot luck gift exchange while at the restaurant and we come home with a nice bottle of wine. :)
We also have found plenty to do here at paradise oaks and have met many nice people. It has been amazing just how fast the time passes.
Take care and stay healthy.
Merry Christmas to all!
2 ole buddies.
