Hi,
Next stop was Cuzco for a night and then on to Ollantaytambo where we visited a local village community up high in the hills (altitude starting to take effect at this point...) We got involved in a couple of tasks - cutting long grass with a scythe for cows and building an outdoor oven with clods of mud to bake potatoes. Us gringos were all a bit cackhanded and shown up by a little boy called, somewhat unusually, Jefferson. We then enjoyed a really tasty lunch cooked by the villagers. Don´t know about the Irish but Peruvians are seemingly obsessed with potatoes, they feature in quite a lot of dishes in a multitude of forms - we like a spud but still...
Then it was back to Ollantaytambo for a slightly fitful night´s sleep before embarking on the Inca Trail the next morning - eek!
Last post for today with Inca Trail photos to follow soon
