High on the eastern boundary of the Cascade Range, McArthur-Burney Falls State Park sits on the western Modoc plateau halfway between Mt. Shasta and Lassen Peak. The hike to the base of the falls and then over the top (by bridge) was awesome. My pictures do not display this, but the mist above the basin of glacier blue water at the bottom of the falls was alight with rainbow colors.
The soil here is red and Annie, our cute white dog, is now also reddish brown. Looks like a doggy wash is in order.
Again, we are totally impressed with the California State Parks. It is difficult to pinpoint on our map the exact location of these parks, as they are far from large cities and this map does not allow State Parks. I will do the best I can.
