|Safely in Ko Panang now for 4 days. Booked somewhere to stay in advance just in case its very busy with full moon party on Sat. Well away from the main part of the Island so not convinced it was the best move, it is very near a beach though so will take advantage of that soon! Got 10am boat here although it didn't leave til nearly 11.30 coz the tide was too low for big boat to get to pier so they shipped us out in various boats - I got a dodgy little fishing boat with 20 of us squashed on, we had to be pulled up on board!! Not the best in fairly choppy seas!!
Decided once and for all it was time to do the 'In Asia' thing and hired a bike to explore the Island on day 2. Talk about Extreme sports, Bungee Jumping, River Surfing, White Water Rafting, Sky Diving, never had a look in compared to driving a moped on very steep badly rutted roads with no front brakes!! Wouldn't say I actually feared for my life but serious injury was a definity possibility!! Luckily it didn't become a reality - I was VERY careful (most of the time!!) Not to be deterred by that experience I decided to hire a bike again the next 2 days, I made sure it was in full working order this time and avoided the areas with really bad roads in favour of the 'sealed' concrete roads. There was one very steep hill to contend with to get into the main beach but managed that okay. Visited a lot of beaches and went on a boat trip aroud the Island, well part of the way round anyway. Not as good ad the Koa Toa trip but some interesting added extras!! Went along to the Infamous Full Moon party with a group of people from the bungalows where I was staying. Had a good night, did the Thailand Bucket drinking thing, quite an experience! Luckily managed to get up to catch ferry in the morning!
